About the journal

Our purpose

Public conversation about men tends to swing between alarm and dismissal. We think the subject deserves better: patient attention to evidence, and to the experience of the men, boys and families behind it.

What we publish

Essays, research articles, commentary, book reviews and personal narratives. We welcome scholars, practitioners and first-time writers alike, and we ask every contributor to argue in good faith and show their sources.

How to read us

Everything we publish is free to read online, and each article can be opened as a PDF for printing or sharing. A print edition may follow.

Have something to say?

We read every submission. If you have an argument, a piece of research or a story that belongs in these pages, we would like to hear from you.
